Day 1

After a lovely breakfast (lots of freshly made scones), we felt it was time to get the show on the road! It was a grey morning with a bit of sea mist, but very suitable cycling weather really. We set off at about 8 oclock and our first stop was Bantry. Then we went via Glengarriff, over the Caha Pass, through lovely countryside with an array of wonderful purple rhododendrons in full bloom on all sides. We had a nice lunch in Kenmare before seeing off for Killarney. Next big climb was Moll's Gap (puff...puff) and then a lovely downhill to Killarney, with the famous lakes to our left.
We had covered 65 miles by then and felt justified in stopping for the night.A few well-earned pints in a pub, nice hotel,Chinese meal,nightcap....bed....szzzzzzzzz
